CHAPTER 22

Three hours later, I departed through the exit doors of the clinic and returned to the car with the results of the pregnancy test. Flynn and King were locked away into a deep nod. I tapped on the window awaking the both of them. Flynn unlocked the door and I placed myself into the front seat.

“What happened?”

“I’m pregnant,” I confessed with tears rolling down my face.

He didn’t say a word. He face became flush red as he processed what I said.

I looked at him, “I’m sorry.”

Without notice he punched me in my face. I attempted to defend myself by raising my arms in the air. He was swift and punched me in my stomach; I curled up into a ball of pain. He continued to punch me until he got tired. I yelped and pleaded for him to stop, but he wouldn’t.

“Please stop… stop hitting me… you making my head bleed; oh GOD you making me bleed,” I cried after feeling the fast peering lumps throughout my head.

My cries frightened King. Now he too was in fear for my well being. Mad energy filled the car. Flynn somehow collected himself; after all, we were sitting in a parked car on a public street.

He started up the vehicle and headed back to my apartment.

As soon he pulled up in front of the building, I grabbed King and exited the vehicle hoping he would not come inside with us, “You not coming in are you?”

“Hell yeah… this ain’t only yo shit – this my shit. I don’t care if you do pay the rent for this motherfucker!”

“Oh my GOD… what have I gotten myself into?” I thought to myself.

I was forced to enter the apartment along with his presence. Once inside, he tortured me physically - brutally. I was sure he was going to kill me, especially after I watched him roll together the Sunday Chicago Sun Times Newspaper (minus the store ads), bound it with gray duct tape, and beat me with it. He beat me brutally with the roll for hours.

King (just a little under a year) witnessed the entire episode. He cried and screamed for my well being… this is when Flynn picked him up and slammed him onto the couch by his arm. He bounced off of the couch and hit his head and face onto the floor. Blood flooded King’s facial area. With the little might I had left, I ran to see about my son. In doing so, he kicked me in the ribs and smacked King across his face.

“Shut up,” he ordered with a vengeful rage.

“Everyone became mute; even King knew to be silent.

“Clean the fuck up!” he commanded with a switch in his mood.

I grabbed King and rushed into the bedroom. He gave me no privacy as I prepared for our shower. During my cleansing, I was free to release the gut lagging cries of fear from the torture King and I survived. I was in great distress after noticing the dozens of paper cuts I received from the forceful blows of the newspaper. The purple bruises and knots from the swollen ligaments and bones throughout my body ached. The many blows I suffered to the head made me dizzy and after it was all said and done, the battle wounds meant nothing after nursing the wounded face of my son. His lip and nose were cut and bruised. He was helpless; so was I. Escaping at this time would not be an option. I would have to submit to the abortion in order for my son and me to be set free.

In response to this situation, I engaged in a lengthy prayer with Jesus because I had to brace myself for holding accountability in committing one of life’s greatest sins...

BOOK EXCERPT – POEM

I AM

Through Christ I AM PENELOPE, the single mother of four;

Witty as all get out, I will find a way to open the door;

I AM THE world’s NEXT BEST SELLING AUTHOR – I work really hard;

To be productive and righteous as a Woman in the name of GOD;

I love my Momma, I do. But I despised her life of hardness;

Despised it because she sacrificed me just to live in Darkness;

Darkness is a body that succumbs to the evil and wicked world of sin;

Darkness is a mindset of the Spiritual Ignorance embedded within;

If only she was there for me then when I needed to learn how;

I AM CONFIDENT that My Soul too would have been FREED by now;

Freed from the external mental and physical effects of an Afflicted Souls lingering pain;

Freed to be rejoicing for Glory without worry when honoring thy Mother’s name…

Exodus  20:12 ~ Honor thy mother and thy father:  that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy GOD giveth thee… Holy Bible (King James Version).
